Uesugi Kenshin's Himetsuru Koshirae

$943.07

Uesugi Kenshin was one of the many powerful lords of the Civil War period of Japan in Echigo province. He is famed for his prowess on the battlefield, the legendary rivalry with Takeda Shingen, his military expertise, strategy and his belief in the god of war ? Bishamonten. In fact, many of his followers and others believed him to be the avatar of Bishamonten, and called Kenshin god of war. This Koshirae is a faithful reproduction of sword Uesugi Kenshi was actually wearing all the time, Himetsuru Ichimonji. This Tsuba-less Ichimonji is the typical Uesugi clan's Uchigatana style. A simplified black Fuchigane is made of iron and a classic Tsukagashira made of buffalo horn. In accordance with the original Himetsuru Ichimonji sword owned by Uesugi Kenshin himself, the sword is assembled as Aikuchi style(no Tsuba attached), and a set of Kozuka and Kogai is featured on the both sides of Saya Koiguchi. Menuki theme is black dragon which was a nickname of Kenshin. The Tsuka is bound with suede type, black synthetic leather over black Tsukasame and Saya is Kuroro(black gloss finish). Sageo is a hand-woven Sanadahimo cord with sophisticated two-tone color. A sand-cased, extra-reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy blade provides the superb balance for the dynamic air-slashing move. The Hamon pattern reproduces the legendary Himetsuru Ichimonji. Each part are uncompromisingly hand-assembled by the Japanese sword craftsman, who is expert in making the genuine Japanese sword, Shinken. The blade is available up to 2.45 shaku. Weight without Saya is approximately 790 gram(for 2.45 shaku). Proudly made in Japan.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
