The shinai is fully wrapped in high-quality leather. Used predominantly in Kashima Shin Ryu, this shinai is perfectly made for training in which a Bokuto would be too dangerous. The thick, high-quality leather ensured durability while the bamboo skeleton gives flexibility and a more forgiving flexibility.
Dating back to as early as the 16th century, Kashima Shin Ryu is a member of the Japanese Koryu Bujutsu. Although Kenjutsu plays a major role, this school also teaches Jo-jutsu, Bo-jutsu, Batto-jutsu, and more to create a fully encompassed martial arts style. This style is named in honor of the Kashima Shrine.
