A superb rust-preventive mineral oil. Available in 30cc and 100cc.
From Japan to Portugal, it was a long 20 days voyage. It was not the first time I ordered from Tozando, but it's getting increasingly hard. All their products are 5 stars and if you take your Shinken/Iaito maintenance seriously this is the product for you. Having said that, even though Tozando is generous on the shipping manifest, as soon as it arrives in the EU, we are hit with taxes, services, and taxes on top of services. I paid more than half of the total price of the oil + shipping just to get it clear of customs in Portugal. This is Portugal's and EU's fault of course, but I wish Tozando would have their own warehouse in the EU, as there are tens of thousands of martial arts practitioners here too. Rant aside, I completely, 100% recommend all their products, if you can afford the extra taxation in your own country.
I am very satisfied. I am looking forward to next deal.
A great product but service and delivery is so so slow and communication is even slower Tozando really need to lift there game as not competing in the current delivery of product market .
The team at Tozando are efficient, and very easy to deal with, communicates promptly where there are issues. Product works as expected. Delivery mechanism if overseas is quite slow - from shipment from Tozando to final destination. JP tracking ceases once it leaves Japan until delivery day, so this is frustratingly slow.
Excellent experience from start to finish. The package arrived perfectly packed, neatly folded, and in impeccable condition. Everything matches exactly what I ordered.
The quality of the material is very good — you can notice it in the finishing and details. The uniform is comfortable, well-made, and suitable both for beginners and for more advanced practice.
Very satisfied with the purchase. I would definitely buy again.
My full custom iaito arrived back on April 1st after just over 13 months of waiting. It is absolutely gorgeous and I'm thankful Tozando worked with me on seeing this finally be delivered.
To be clear, a 13 month timeline is not normal at all, so if you're reading this, that should not happen to you.
I ordered it last February, it should have normally arrived around June, however there was a backlog and my iaito apparently had some defects and had to get remade. It didn't ship until September, it arrived in the US in a day... but because the all the tariffs took effect and there was no de minimis exemption it got stuck in Customs hell. There was allegedly an issue with the Customs forms (per UPS), but because it took more than 2 weeks to address it was then marked for disposal. (It's unclear to me if there was an issue because Tozando regularly ships iaito to the US and many iaito are valued over $800, so there shouldn't have been any Customs problems).
Once it was marked and because it never cleared customs, it wasn't going to be sent back. Tozando worked tirelessly to see if UPS could find the iaito even though it was to be disposed of. Eventually after a few months it was found, but because it was unclear if it would be found Tozando worked on remaking my iaito again. The og iaito was eventually shipped back to Tozando, which took a fair bit of time, UPS wasn't going to overnight it of course.
Eventually it got back to Tozando, who took pictures of it for me and Tozando gave me the option of waiting for the new one to be made so I could choose between them. I took that option, and Tozando even graciously included the kurigata reinforcement for me at no cost.
My iaito has been amazing to use and I could tell immediately it fit me better than another student's old iaito (which had a slightly smaller tsuka). My sensei and other students have agreed it's very beautiful and are happy I finally have it, they would constantly ask me if there was any update and on more than one occasion thought the other student's old iaito was mine lol. I had to tell them they would know when mine was in.
I ordered a custom tenugui to be presented to friends and comrades. Support was swift and exact combined with serious craftsmenship.
Thank you very much for your hard work!
Great craftsmanship. When I received it it was great. However, I wanted to add character to it and make it truly mine. Also reduce the maintenance necessary. I removed wax and covered it in 7 layers of tung oil. Added a personal tsuba. It's now an absolute beauty.
I've been using these for 2 years and bought them again. Really well made and super comfortable with no discomfort at all.
