I bought my first bogu (4mm) in 1996 from Tozando and continued to wear the men for the next 29 years. I finally decided I needed a new one for kodansha shinsa, and went with this 1.8bu men. I was only able to wear it for 2 practices before the shinsa, but it was absolutely PERFECT right out of the box -- very comfortable and protective, well-balanced with little to no strain on my neck. This men needed absolutely no break-in period. The men buton (flaps) are easily workable.
I could not be more pleased with this purchase and fully expect it to last for the remainder of my kendo career. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
(And yes, I did pass my kodansha shinsa with it!)
The monomi looks a little off in the picture due to the video angle, but I promise it is 100% perfectly aligned!
It spent me 3 months for the handmade men, but it worth the time. The men is in a very good quality, comfortable, lightweight and protective.
