After the delivery was delay for a month, I opted to visit the Kyoto HQ to pick up my order. Upon seeing the finished product, I was a bit concerned. The iron tsuba had more of a brown color than the dark grey shown on the website. The kojiri was scuffed up pretty bad, and the seppa didn't fit flush with the koiguchi. I paid extra for the "Extra Finely Lined Saya" but the draw often gets "stuck" because the fit is too tight. Since this is no longer a gift, I will keep it for myself.

Suzaku Iaito are the absolute best. I recommend it to all my students. I had been deciding on whether to go full custom or get a semi custom, luckily my wife and I took a trip to Japan and by obligation I had to stop by Tozando while there. The shop was super cool and great customer service they handed me a physical catalogue and I let my wife choose out the pieces she liked because I wanted my iaito to reflect her when I practice in class. I ordered it and waited anxiously for it to arrive months later and it was perfect! I definitely have bragging rights now that my iaito was Japanese made, but it feels great and looks impressive and always reminds me of my Japan trip and the awesome Tozando shop experience.
