Minosaka Tensho Koshirae Iaito
The Tensho Koshirae was first designed as a reproduction of the original Tensho katana owned by Akechi Mitsuharu.
The design incorporates a copper fuchigane finished in an antique style and genuine water buffalo horn is used for the tsukagashira.
The sageo are made in the traditional kaikuchi style. The blade is made of a Zinc/Aluminium alloy and the whole koshirae is made form scratch at Minosaka's Gifu Workshop in Japan.
*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.

At 1lb 11oz, the weight feels good in hand; substantial, but not heavy. I personally quite like the feel of the rikko tsuka in my hands, as well as the lack of adorned kashira. It has a much more natural feel for me, which helps me focus on the moment.
Asside from design appreciations, the craftsmanship put into this piece is clearly visible. The hamon can be easily seen, but is subtle. Absolutely nothing is even a hair loose, everything has its place and fits together as it were one solid piece.
I would say this is an investment piece, as the cost is nothing to scoff at; however, I do believe that it is worth every penny. I would not call this a lack luster piece, unlike katana that you can find just about anywhere on the internet, and all over tourist shops if you visit Japan. Conversely, I would say that the time and effort that appears to be put in by Minosaka group for their creations is easily evident. I will certainly recommend Minosaka products to others and will definitely be returning if I'm ever in need of another iaito.
