These Kaku Obi are made here in Kyoto using the Nishijin style of weaving - Nishijin is where we are based so these are sourced from the heart of Japan's traditional Kimono culture.

Kaku Obi are a stiff thin style of traditional belt worn with a Kimono. Initially worn by men, it has found use in traditional martial arts for securing swords, aiding breathing, and complimenting your Chakuso. Most often used in Iaido, but also in Kendo and Koryu practice. Approximately 390cm by 9.5cm.

Iaido Obi

Beautifully made and comfortable to wear. The obi held my Iaito comfortably while still being able to manipulate the scabbard. Upon receiving my obi, I noticed that it was a slight different color than what was shown online.

Great Obi

When I started, I cheaped out on the obi. Figured I could get by. It's just a belt. Nope.

This belt has the proper rigidity to hold up the sword securely, and the right texture to allow it to slide without slipping too easily. I bought a second one in another color. There's a reason everyone in my club has one of these.
