Minosaka Higo Koshirae Iaito

$506.42

Since its first introduction, this Higo Koshirae has been and still is one of the best selling iaito in Japan and worldwide thanks to the quality of its construction, authentic design and affordable cost. The brass fittings feature a karakusa - creeping vines - theme in the traditional rounded pommel higo style.

The classic higo style uses the namako style tsuba and kuyomon menuki (closely associated with the Hosokawa clan), but this koshirae can be customized and you are free to choose your own design.

For those want to match classic higo style koshirae of the old Higo Province, we recommend choosing the namako tsuba and kuyomon menuki.

Both styles can be purchased together as a Daiso Set. Please bear in mind this is designed for iaido practice and is an iaito, it is not suitable for contact kata such as the Nihon Kendo no Kata. The blades are made from a lightweight zinc/aluminium alloy that cannot be sharpened - like all Minosaka Iaito, these are made at their workshop in Gifu Prefecture.
