Using a new type of fiber called "Unitika Pulper" that combines the best parts of polyester and cotton, Tozando has managed to create this new type of aikidogi. The dogi is made in a traditional fashion, the fabric used is durable, yet thin enough to feel comfortable wearing during the warmer months of the year. The fabric is treated with "yomogi" - Japanese mugwort - which is known for its anti-bacterial and anti-odor qualities. The dogi has been reinforced in the collar and shoulder area. Also, the pants are reinforced at the knees to make them more durable in suwariwaza.
The Unitika Pulper fiber is made of 60% Cotton and 40% Polyester and features the soft qualities and great sweat-absorbing features of cotton, combined with the quick-drying and flexible characteristics of polyester. This also makes this uniform extremely light and comfortable to wear, perfect for summer practice, but also good for regular practice.
Thanks to the yomogi treatment, the uniform is naturally protected against bacteria and odor, while it remains soft and kind to the skin. This also makes it very comfortable and flexible. The unfiform is made by our own tailors at our Iwate Workshop.
