Japanese Hokkaido Oak Jo 8bu Value Set
Grown and made in Hokkaido, Japan.
Hokkaido oak, which grows vigorously and withstands the wind and snow of the cold northern lands, can reach heights of up to 35 meters and some trees are more than 1,000 years old. The oak and its characteristics have been thoroughly examined, and the Jo is carefully finished one by one by skilled artisans in the company's specialist woodworking workshop. Not only is it robust, durable, and water-resistant, but the beauty and elegance of the oak, which is neither too heavy nor too light, makes it the ideal wood for wooden weapons.
Traditional Jo for Traditional Training
Jo has been used all over Japan for many hundreds of years and is included as a weapon that needs to be studied in most Koryu schools of swordsmanship. Jodo has also developed into its category with many styles and lineages. What binds all of them together is the standard Jo, which has had its size as it is now from the time that Muso Gonnosuke fought Musashi in the early 17th century. This Jo is made to the same exacting standards and will be a partner on your road toward improvement, no matter what style or lineage you are from.
