Miike Tenta was a renown swordsmith in Chikugo prefecture in the late Heian era and is better known as Mitsuyo. The characteristics of his sword is the wider blade and the dynamic appearance. Often the image of Tenta's sword is considered talismanic and one of the Maeda's heirloom is the big Tenta's work, known as O-Tenta. This special edition of Miike Tanta Koshirae features the Yagyu clan's original theme as Yagyu Nikaigasa and the reversed Menuki positioning. The silver-plated brass fitting ornaments are rather simple yet classic. The black-lacquered rattan on the black matte Inro Kizami Saya adds the extra dignified look.
