Historical Background

Tokugawa Yoshimune was the eighth Shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, ruling from 1716 until his abdication in 1745, his biggest achievement was the financial reforms during the economic crisis those days called the Kyoho Reforms.
Because of the long-running television series Abarenbo Shogun(Rowdy Shogun) based on him, Yoshimune is one of the most well-known of all the Shogun from the Tokugawa family.

Specifications

This Tokugawa Shogun Yoshimune Koshirae Iaito features the Tokugawa Aoi family crest engraved on a brass-made Habaki. The iron Tsuba, adorned with a dragon theme, is gold-plated. The Fuchi, Kashira, and Menuki, all crafted from brass, are also gold-plated. The white Sageo and Tsuka cord reflect Yoshimune's favorite color.

The Iaito features a sand-casted, reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy blade with an extra-wide profile, a Suguha Hamon, and a single grooved Hi. It weighs approximately 850 grams without the Saya (for a 2.45 Shaku blade). The white cotton Tsuka is wrapped in Hinerimaki over white stingray skin. Proudly made in Japan.
