Men-Nari - Compact Suburi Shinai
The Men-Nari is a compact training tool designed for practicing Suburi, a basic Kendo exercise, anywhere. It is shaped like a short Shinai and produces a snapping sound when swung correctly, helping you practice proper speed, form, balance, and weight shift. The sound comes from a weight inside the Men-Nari that hits the tip when used properly.
Created by Hiromitsu Yoshida Sensei, a Kendo Kyoshi 8th dan, the Men-Nari aims to make Suburi practice more enjoyable and accessible, especially for those who may not have access to high-ranking instructors. It's useful for improving the Jodan stance, speed, strength, and precision of downward swings, and is also beneficial for Iaido practitioners, though it is lighter and may feel different from traditional Iaito.
