Yagyu-ryu Fukuro Shinai
The Yagyu style Fukuro shinai is made from a single piece of bamboo that is split multiple times down from the tip to allow for more flexibility and a more forgiving striking area. It is then wrapped in thick, high-quality leather to further add durability and protection. Ornately tied near the Tsuka end, this simple yet effective tool for helping the better understanding of the art of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu.
Yagyu Shinkage-Ryu is one of the oldest schools of Japanese swordsmanship. Founded by Kamiizumi Nobutsuna in 1565, the school was known simply as Shinkage-ryu. Nobutsuna passed on the school to his student, Yagyu Munetoshi, applying his name to the school. Today, the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu is still to this day one of the more revered styles of Japanese swordsmanship, both in Japan and abroad.
