The Bishamon 8mm ISG Kote tend to run a bit small. For this reason we recommend choosing one size up from what the size chart shows for the best experience.
Bishamon is one of the seven gods of fortune in Japan and is the patron god of warriors. The Bishamon Bogu was created in this spirit to protect those in the dojo through design while still being maneuverable and easy to wear. The 8mm stitching and thick futon is perfect for those training outside of Japan. Though the bogu is very protective, it has not lost any of the traditional design, though several new aspects have been upgraded to make the perfect bogu for those abroad.
Besides the 8mm machine stitch and thick futon, the men also sports 3mm mendare for ease of motion along with a double leather strap for the tsuki-dare which reinforces the structure to keep the wearer safe from even strong tsuki thrusts. This is on top of the ISG Safety Guard attached as standard to further keep keiko safe without inhibiting movement.
The kote sport the same thick 8mm futon, helping to absorb strikes while also remaining comfortable. The tsu-tsu or wrist portion of the kote uses a thinner stitch to create excellent dexterity and allow for quick break-in time and help with tenouchi.
The Hongumo 'S' Mune sported on the do is perfect for keeping tsuki thrusts or stabs to the chest from sliding and keeping the wearer safe while also maintaining the look of tradition and quality. This do uses high quality kurozan leather in combination with a 50 piece reinforced resin yamato dodai. Yamato dodai provide excellent feedback similar to bamboo do thanks to their many staves.
