The Byakko - Satsuma Koshirae Iaito features imagery famous throughout the Satsuma domain, which is now Kagoshima prefecture, on the Fuchi and Kashira, as well as sporting a practical iron Tsuba. Instead of the standard Same (sting-ray skin) which is used on the Tsuka, this Iaito is wrapped with cow leather and does not have any Menuki, giving it a simple and elegant look. The blade is sand cast and has a bubble-free 'Habahiro' heavy-weight feature with a zinc/aluminum alloy blade. Available up to 2.70 shaku in length.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum-zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.

Elegantly beautiful

I received this iaito a few days ago and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The tsuka is simple and elegant and feels very good in hand. I have mine with silk tsuka wrapping. Absolutely stunning craftsmanship!

Production was also relatively quick. It took approximately 8 weeks to arrive from the day of the purchase.

I don’t think it is mentioned in the description of this iaito (at the time of writing), so it was a pleasant surprise that the saya came with shitodome with silver finish! Also the cotton on sageo feels greater quality than the one on cheaper models.
