Gemon is a Buddhist gatha and this Gemon Koshirae features the verse of gatha that Buddha once said to his principle disciple Mahakasyap. It reads "HO WA MOTO HO TO SHITE MUO NARI, MUHO MO HO TO SHITE MATA HO NARI", literally meaning that the laws of dharma were initially not laws in the proper meaning of the word, but they eventually became laws.

The first verse is featured on Tsuba and the second on Fuchi/Kashira. The Tsuba and Tsukagashira are shaped in unique Matsudaira Daigaku style. Vajra Menuki is made of brass as well. The tsuka is carefully hand-wrapped with the cotton braid over white tsukasame and the sageo matches the tsuka color. The saya lacquer is available in kuroro, kuroishime or chaishime. The blade is sand-casted from a bubble-free zinc/aluminum alloy; available up to 2.70 shaku.

*Iaito are made with an aluminum zinc alloy blade and cannot be sharpened.
