Persimmon dyeing is known as "kaki shibori" in Japanese - popular amongst warriors and early samurai during the late Heian period. This rare form of dyeing produces a beautifully rich and earthy colour that is also extrmely soft to the touch.
This unique uniform set features a single-layer dogi and #8000 medium-weight hakama, made from 100% cotton dyed using kaki shibori. Made in Japan, to order, these beautiful garments are robust and tailored for kendo keiko, but are distinctive and distinguished in their colour and form. Kaki shibori dyeing is well liked for its antiseptic and insect repellent properties, much like aizome dye.
