Minosaka Double Groove Higo Koshirae Iaito

$1,028.44

This sword is inspired by the blades made by Sagamino Kuni Sadamune, characterized by the double grooves running down the entire length of the blade. Aside from its decorative appeal, the smithing of a blade with double grooves allowed the sword to achieve higher levels of rigidity while still remaining in that elusive equilibrium between breaking and bending. Through the latest technology, the design has been duplicated in a hardened aluminum alloy iaito that is a testament to the original combination of weight and balance.

Finished in a plain higo style fuchi/kashira combination made of blackened steel. The blade is made of a reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy. Weighs approximately 1kg without the saya at 2.5 Shaku. Handmade in Japan at Minosaka's Gifu workshop.
