This Yajiri Gassen Koshirae honors the great battles that have taken place in and around Kyoto over the centuries. The intricate tsuba shows scenes of a great battle while the menuki are images of samurai regalia like war fans and flags. The fuchi-kashira are wonderful imagery of flying arrows which set off this very martial spirit.
The suzaku iaito stands out from the crowd thanks to its unique blade and the attention to detail put in by our Nishijin workshop. Unfortunately these swords are no longer in production - this is one of the remaining stock and is a unique piece.
Made from GT Metal, this iaito's blade is denser than other run of the mill iaito and as such it feels closer to a shinken when swung. This is emphasised by the hand carved bohi that features a shinken style hisaki and marutome. The blade is held in place by a brass plain style habaki.
Finally, the sword keeps with this Bushi spirit with an elegant kuroro saya and dark brown Kogecha tsuka-maki with black silk sageo. It is a fantastic representation of the attention to detail the craftsman in Kyoto pay to each iaito they create.
This is an in-stock iaito and will ship in approximately 1 to 3 working days after you make your order. Please bear in mind as this part of a limited run sale of remaining stock, it is not possible to return or exchange. This is an iaito, as such it is a replica sword designed for iaido practice, made from a non-ferrous alloy that cannot be sharpened.
