This bogu is a one of a kind, ordered to test a bogu design. We are making it available as an outlet product so it can go to a good home! It's elegant and refined design, kotengata long mendare and protective 8mm cross-stitch futon make this the perfect choice for kendoka who like old-school cool and prioritise protection in their equipment.
The foundation of this set is its thick 8mm cross-stitched futon, that has been reinforced with orizashi cotton and reinforced with indigo-dyed clarino synthetic leather. The broad 8mm stitch allows the futon to absorb powerful strikes, whilst the cross-stitch lattice increases durabiltiy and keeps the armour flexible and supple.
This foundation has been refined with the addition of a Bishamon shokko done in black on both the ago and the mune. This design relates to the war god Bishamon-ten patron of bushi in Japan. Its interlocking pattern is beautiful, but understated - perfect for kendo.
Alongside its traditional stylings, it also features several innovative features. The mengane is the Tozando exclusive High Vision variety, with an expanded monomi allowing for a greater field of view. The kote are stitched in the yoroigata style for additional comfort and easier tenouchi.
We recommend this set to both beginners and intermediate practitioners looking for a solid and protective set, but with a distinctive, but reserved look. There is only one available, so when it is gone it will no longer be available. For sizing and specifications, please see below.
