This koshirae is one of the few that was made to be used in a historical Japanese movie. It is made in Japan, and as such the blade is made from zinc/aluminum alloy and cannot be sharpened as per Japanese law.
As the blade is made to look historical it does not feature the groove on the side of the blade (Hi), meaning it is not suitable for beginner use in Iaido.
Though it can be used to great effect as a shinken stand-in as the weight is very close.
The look also makes it a great piece for decoration as it adds a flare of authentic shinken without the danger or restriction associated with these.
