The Sayaka Hakama are made with a polyester fabric that has been inter-woven with Deocell? fiber - a naturally derived anti-bacterial fiber. Because of this, the hakama are excellent to wear during summer as they are lightweight, sweat absorbing and quick-drying. It also prevents unwanted bacterial growth and odor, keeping your hakama hygienic and clean for a longer period of time.
Deocell? is a natural cellulose fiber which does not cover up odors with its own, but actively neutralizes and eliminates them thanks to it's anti-bacterial properties. It does this by breaking up the ammonia chemicals which are present in sweat, dissolving and neutralizing the odors. Because it is a natural cellulose fiber, it's very delicate on the skin as it has a natural PH which is close to the PH of skin, and does not release any dangerous substances. It also does not need any specific treatments to keep it's characteristics, and thus the fabric will keep it's anti-bacterial properties even after repeated cleaning and usage.
The Hakama also features inner-stitched pleats, to prevent the pleats from losing their shape and also makes it a breeze to wash and fold your hakama.
Each set is hand-made by our experienced tailors in our headquarters in Nishijin, Kyoto.
