This unique tachi carries the marks of alterations made during the time following the Kamakura Period. The original sword was an impressively long tachi which included a koshi-bi bohi. These styles of bohi are made to represent the god, Aizen-Myōō. This short bohi originally extended down the first quarter of the blade. However, the sword was then shortened and this portion of the blade was altered to serve as the swords new tang, leaving the original bohi only in the tang of the sword. A very unique piece and an amazing story of its life.
